Sunday’s local markets

IMG_4480The Asian markets at Rapid Creek will transport you to another country.  Close your eyes and smell the chilli and garlic wafting through the smoky air.  check out the straggly snake beans, water spinach that looks like a muddle of stalks when cooked and bitter melons the size of footballs. Taste the brilliant red flesh of the dragon fruit, great with a dash of lime juice.

Nightcliff markets have more of a community and family atmosphere.  Musicians jam under the awnings, children clamber over the slides. Asian foods and local art and craft stalls run around the Groove café and there’s always a bargain or two at the second hand book stall.

CIMG3433Why not take an early morning stroll along the foreshore at Nightcliff then have breakfast at the markets?
