Edith Falls

The heat is intense, the pavers burn my feet but just the view of the lagoon is a haven, a retreat from the heat. The wind sends gentle ripples across the pool, edged with weeping paperbarks that blow gently in the breeze. The only noise is the water rushing through the narrow gorge and out to the pool.

We made the most of our trip to Katherine last week and stopped here for a picnic. Sitting under the shade of the paperbarks, I decadently tucked into my favourite manchega cheese and olives with a crusty baguette.  It is such a treat to be in this delightful spot, alone except for the birds and the water.

Check back here next week for more special places to explore Down the Track’
